01/2017. Human basophils lack mannose receptors
According to an article published in The Journal Allergy and Clinical Immunology, human basophils do not have mannan receptors.
Basophils participate in allergic reactions and the absence of these receptors would avoid the risk of activation of these cells with mannan-conjugated vaccines (Sirvent et al-Manzano et al). These new vaccines have been designed by INMUNOTEK.
Title: “Human basophils may not undergo modulation by DC-SIGN and mannose receptor–targeting immunotherapies due to absence of receptors”
