10/2021. Allergoid-mannan conjugates on macrophages

Allergy publishes an interesting study on the capacity of allergoid-mannan conjugates to imprint tolerogenic properties to human macrophages.

Mannan-conjugated allergoids represent a new generation of allergy vaccines targeting dendritic cells developed by INMUNOTEK.

Tolerogenic dendritic cells play a critical role in the generation of regulatory T cells responsible for allergen-specific tolerance in allergic patients receiving immunotherapy. Previous studies had demonstrated the ability of allergoid-mannan conjugates to induce tolerogenic dendritic cells, as well as to reprogram monocytes to generate these cells.

This new study demonstrates that allergoids coupled to mannan can also modulate the functional activity of macrophages towards a tolerogenic phenotype.

This study has been carried out at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with the collaboration of INMUNOTEK.
