Allergy to hymenoptera poison
Patients who are allergic to Hymenoptera (wasps and bees) must bear in mind a number of precautions, particularly in areas with an abundance of flowers and vegetation. Some of these precautions are:
- Avoid clothing with bright colors or printed designs
- Avoid walking barefoot or with sandals
- Avoid perfumes or cosmetics with intense scents that could attract insects
- Avoid activities in areas with an abundance of flowers
- In the presence of a wasp or a bee, avoid sudden movements or attempts to kill it or scare it away
- For bee stings, it is important to remove the needle from the skin, taking care to avoid placing pressure on the sac
- If allergy to bees is confirmed, it is advisable to refrain from beekeeping activities
- If the allergy is against wasps, it is advisable to avoid open air picnics and participation in tasks like grape or fruit harvesting
Individuals who are allergic to Hymenoptera should have at hand a small emergency kit under the supervision of their doctor or allergologist, which should mainly include adrenalin to treat possible allergic reactions.
