07/2019. MV130 (Bactek) on oral epithelial cells

MV130 (Bactek) is a sublingual preparation of inactivated bacteria selected by INMUNOTEK for the treatment of recurrent respiratory infections. Understanding the mechanisms of interaction of MV130 with epithelial cells has been one of the objectives of the work recently published in Frontiers in Immunology.

This research study, led by Prof. Pedro Reche (School of Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid), in collaboration with INMUNOTEK, highlights the important regulatory role of epithelial cells in the oral cavity. These cells were shown to prevent the full maturation of dendritic cells (DC)  while exert a strong suppressor effect on T cells.
